About the Tequila:

In honor of the 85th anniversary of La Alteña, home of El Tesoro, we’ve created an extra Añejo tequila rich with the spirit of two family legacies.

To create this unparalleled expression, we worked with our friend and Jim Beam Master Distiller, Fred Noe, aging our tequila in the legendary Booker's 30th anniversary barrels for over three years. The result is a complex spirit layered with sweetness, oak and cooked agave. It's a tequila deserving of the legacies that brought it to life.

Tasting Notes:

This expression has a nose of cooked agave, cherries, seasoned oak, leather, spices, molasses, vanilla, toffee and touch of maple syrup. On the palate is licorice, cooked agave, black berries, oak, almonds, banana, tobacco, spices, coffee, caramel and pepper, before a creamy finish with spices.

"Pale gold in color, and there’s plenty of agave punch that clings to the nose. Peppery and still a touch green, the bourbon barrel plays second fiddle to a pungent, terroir-driven experience. That aside, it’s heady and immense, its character less vegetal and more earthy in composition. On the palate, the tequila feels much the same, driven foremost by pepper and green vegetation, followed up with baking spice, particularly cinnamon. That’s probably due more to the tequila than the barrel, with notes of lemon and lime peel both lingering late in the game, quite unusual for an extra anejo. Black pepper clings longest to the tongue, and there are hints of vanilla-laced sweetness around the edges. A damn good tequila." - Drinkhacker
