Notes from the Winemaker:

Born in the Einaudi vineyard at Vigna Terlo in Barolo. A great wine which ages well, garnet red with touches of amber, of intense and persistent bouquet, of great body and full taste, austere and velvety. Matured for 36 months in casks of 30 hl of Slavonian oak and of French Allier and refined over a long period in glass.

A wine of great class which ages well, of a brilliant garnet red with distinctive orange tinges which intensify with age; of an intense and persistent fragrance, of full austere and velvety flavour, rightly tannic, with a lingering “goudron” and spicy final taste. Stemming from the Nebbiolo grapes of the oldest vineyard of the Einaudi estates, near Barolo in the area of Terlo. The alcohol content is between 13.5 and 14.5% vol. with tannic characteristics which guarantee a life in bottle of up to 25-30 years in the best years. With time it acquires complexity as the ethereal aromas of spices, truffles and leather substitute the fruitiness of the first years of its life.

"The 2010 Barolo Terlo bursts from the glass with gorgeous energy and vibrancy. Freshly cut flowers, mint, crushed rocks and sweet red berries flesh out nicely. This is one of the more appealing and accessible 2010 Barolos readers will find for near and medium-term enjoyment. Much of that comes from a relatively short period of vinification (15-16 days), with no post-fermentation macerations, a choice that emphasizes fruit and soft tannins. Still this is a serious wine. Supple, sweet and pliant in the mouth, showing moderate intensity to its red fruit flavors but good acidity and verve.
