Notes from the Winemaker:
Nose: pineapple hard candy, citrus, wet stones, smoke
Mouth: citrus, pear, vanilla, minerals, butterscotch
Tactile: bright acidity, light body, soft mouthfeel

Winemaking:
Fruit was selected from a block planted in 1976 with chardonnay clone 4 on AXR1 rootstock that was later trained to quadrilateral trellising. Vines thrive at 130 feet of elevation on geological benches containing gravelly sandy-loam soils (Pleasanton Series). The east-west axis provides great exposure while the 18x12' vine spacing harmonizes with the well-drained soils, ideal climate and "old school" viticulture to prompt low-yielding vines that engender fat, flavorful wines.
