Notes from the Winemaker:
2015 was an incredible growing year, especially for Cabernet Sauvignon, the focus of Doubleback. Balancing out the heat of the vintage, our later ripening vineyards McQueen, Lefore, and Pepper Bridge really shined bright and they represent the highest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon we have ever had in a Doubleback blend. Medium to deep ruby in color, this wine is expressive immediately with blackberry cobbler, cassis, and wild herbs. On the palate the wine has broad, mouth coating tannins, cocoa powder, minerality, and a fresh, balancing streak of acidity. Though expressive and enjoyable now, the warmth and strength of the vintage will age fabulously for years to come. Drink at cellar temperature. - Josh McDaniels WINEMAKER

Ratings & Reviews
93+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Bright medium ruby. Rich, tangy aromas of cassis, bitter chocolate, spicecake and black pepper. Tightly wound, savory wine with terrific peppery energy to its flavors of cassis, boysenberry and wild herbs. Lovely vibrant Cabernet with a restrained sweetness and a powerful spine for extended aging, but still quite youthfully imploded and in need of time in bottle to expand. Finishes with superb rising length." - Stephen Tanzer (Oct 2017)
92 Points - James Suckling:
"Fresh ferment-derived meaty notes with spicy oak across cassis, mulberries, fresh herbs and blue plums. The palate has a medium body and flavors of bright cassis fruit in approachable style. Drink or hold." (May 2018)
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This wine is a blend of fruit from estate sites McQueen, Bob Healey and Lefore along with Pepper Bridge. The aromas draw you into the glass, with notes of high cacao chocolate, spice, bay leaf, dried flower, cassis, raspberry, herb and cherry, showing pleasing complexities. The black-currant, cherry and spice flavors coat the palate, bringing a sense of richness but still restraint and vibrancy." -SS (Jul 2018)
