About The Domaine:
Saumaize-Michelin was founded in 1977, when Roger Saumaize received 4 hectares of vineyards from his father. Roger had grown up in the vineyards and began working them at age 14. In 1978, he completely took over his father’s estate.

Roger owns the estate with his wife Christine, whose maiden name is Michelin, hence the winery name. Their logo represents the Roche de Vergisson, a huge rock formation, just on top of the Village of Vergisson.

The vines are 45-50 years old of age on average. The vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic principles. In the cellar, all white wines are 100% barrel fermented with 100% M-L fermentation.

Tasting Notes:
The nose shows elegant aromas of white flowers (honeysuckle, acacia) and yellow fruits with mineral notes and brioche nuances. The wine is expressive and balanced with a silky texture, mineral and rich flavors finishing on a saline refreshing finish.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Aromas of pear, citrus oil, white flowers and blanched almonds introduce the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches, a medium to full-bodied, satiny but incisive wine that's one of the more tightly wound, structured bottlings in the range this year. This has turned out nicely and should reward some bottle age." - William Kelley (6/30/2020)

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A cool, pretty and equally airy nose offers up notes of green apple, acacia blossom and a plenitude of citrus influences. There is fine density and evident minerality suffusing the delicious and well-detailed flavors that culminate in a very dry finish that hints of bitter lemon and warmth appear." (10/10/2019)
