Mind-expanding Jurançon Moëlleux first created by the late Didier Dagueneau. Didier's passion for dessert wines, long argued as the greatest Loire winemaker of his time, was profound and the Babylone bottling comes from a uniquely situated Petit Manseng vineyard in the southwest of France where the nuances of the mineral-driven soils balance the delicate sweetness of this wine.

Grape:
Petit Manseng

Viticulture

Natural ampitheatre of vines at the foot of the Pyrenees near the village of Aubertin. The ampitheatre and panoramic view of the mountains reminded Dagueneau of the mythical Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Les Jardins de Babylone in French.

Farmed biodynamically. Didier asked his machinist friend to integrate a few small, lightweight tractors to work in the terraced vineyard, and he installed his lifetime friend and associate Guy Pautrat as the vineyard manager.

Vinification:
Barrel fermented

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous (2013 Vintage):
"Greenish yellow. Captivating bouquet of lime zest, quince, spicecake and honeysuckle. Nicely concentrated and sharply focused, with bracing citrus and spice flavors combining on the middle palate. This strikingly deep, pure wine finishes with strong mineral vibrancy and superb lift and persistence." - Joel B. Payne (Sep 2014)
