About the Winery:
Denner Vineyards is an estate on the far western border of the Paso Robles AVA. Founded by Ron Denner in 1999 after an exhaustive search throughout California. The 156-acre parcel presses up against the Santa Lucia Range, giving the site great diversity of elevation, aspect and soil. The estate is nestled into the Templeton Gap. Denner Vineyards currently uses 45 of the total 108 acres for their estate wine program. The remaining grapes are sold to ultra-premium producers in Paso Robles. Much of their fruit graces the wines of Villa Creek Cellars, Linne Calodo, and Justin Vineyards among others. Denner’s winemaking program is headed by Anthony Yount, a graduate of California Polytechnical University. He is amazingly talented and we are big fans of his wines.

Tasting Notes:
Brightly pitched aromas of white peach, orange peel, flint and yellow rose make a bold introduction to this complex white wine. Flavors of Casaba melon, kaffir lime, and shortbread intermingle on the rich and creamy mid-palate. Bright acidity quickly balances the intensity of the flavors, providing a zippy, long, and refreshing finish.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"Pale, green-hued yellow. Penetrating aromas of fresh citrus and orchard fruits are complicated by hints of chalky minerals and pungent flowers. Juicy and deeply concentrated but lively as well, offering mineral-laced pear and Meyer lemon flavors that show fine clarity and sharp focus. The mineral and floral notes repeat strongly on the penetrating finish, which hangs on with impressive persistence." - Josh Raynolds (12/2020)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2018 Viognier is classy on the nose, with a delicate perfume of white peaches, jasmine, citrus oil and spices. The palate is soft, juicy and approachable, with mineral-laced fruits and an uplifted, gently textured finish. 520 cases were made." - Erin Brooks (2/4/2021)

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"There's a slight haze in the glass on this bottling, which begins with aromas ranging from ripe peach to zingy lime, with hints of lemon and grapefruit zest. The palate is very citrus-driven and tense with tangy aspects, offering flavors of grapefruit skin as well as a rocky minerality" - Matt Kettmann (11/1/2020)
