Notes from the Winemaker:
Paul Gerrie dreamt of the illusive 100+ acre parcel of land north of the original Cristom estate within Eola-Amity Hills, and just before his retirement in 2012, Gerrier was able to purchase the land. The vineyard was named in his honor. After harvest the grapes undergo 50% whole cluster and 100% native yeast fermentation before being gently pressed in a pneumatic bladder press. The wine is then moved to barrel by gravity and receives a full malolactic fermentation in barrel, where it ages for 17 months of which 63% of the oak is new. The wine is fined with egg whites and bottled unfiltred.

Tasting Notes:
Aromatically the wine lifts from the glass with a combination of perfectly ripened red and black fruits, with a graphite smokiness and a hint of mulling spices. On the palate, their is a youthful tannic structure and a floral flavors alongside the fruity notes.

Ratings & Reviews

96 Points - International Wine Report:
"The 2021 Paul Gerrie Vineyard Pinot Noir was aged with a slightly lower percentage of stem inclusion at 20% and gifts a stunning ruby-garnet core with a pinkish rim in the glass. It’s another phenomenal Pinot Noir from the winemaking team at Cristom with a focus on lemony herbs, macerated strawberries, cranberries, red plum skin, and potpourri. A touch more elegant and structured than its siblings, the grippy tannins are going to need a year or two to all come together. Better in 2024, then enjoy for 15 years or more. 493 cases made. Highly recommended." - J. Young (Nov 2023)

96 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Spicy cologne lifts from the 2021 Pinot Noir Paul Gerrie Vineyard, with both high-toned and darker notes of sage, menthol, bergamot, and cranberry cocktail. Medium to full-bodied, it’s tightly coiled, with tremendous length, gripping ripe tannins, a bright spine of acidity, and mouthwatering salinity that lasts long on the finish. It offers up great mineral texture and will need 3-5 more years in bottle. Drink 2026-2040." (Sep 2023)

94+ Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Pinot Noir Paul Gerrie Vineyard is a spicy blend of cloves, cinnamon sticks, and cedar shavings, complementing medicinal cherries. This easily flows across the palate, taking on tension through a blend of tart boysenberry, raspberry and sour citrus. It finishes long and tannic, holding its power in reserve, sapid with repleting floral notes. The Paul Gerrie is produced using 40% whole clusters and 45% new French oak." - Eric Guido (Jan 2024)

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Well-crafted, seductive and lively, with notes of sliced strawberries, cherries, roses and pink peppercorns. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and an intense core of wild berries and spices mingling on the mid-palate. Precise and vibrant with a long finish. Drink or hold." (Mar 2024)

93 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"The Paul Gerrie site is the newest and is still being developed for its wine-growing potential. The wine shows great youthful aromatics of tomato leaf, savoury mint and ripe blue fruits. The palate has a mouthwatering juiciness, with blue fruits, clove, cola and a minerality that turns between stoniness and spice. (May 2023)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"The wine's blueberry, mocha and almond aromas are like the best trail bar ever. Bing cherries rule the palate, where complementary flavors of bittersweet dark chocolate and black coffee ply their trade. The tannins are velvety, the acidity explosive.&" - Michael Alberty (Dec 2023)
