Notes from the Winemaker:
Bright dark cherry color. Beautifully lifted nose of dark rose, spiced red fruits, fresh bark and tar. Elegantly composed on the palate with lovely fruit density carried long by fine acidity and velvet like tannins slowly unfolding for a long and dry finish.

"(vinified with 50% whole clusters and aged in 35% new oak): Good medium red, a shade darker than the basic Te Muna Road bottling. The nose displays darker fruit aromas, with notes of licorice and menthol and good lift. (Winemaker Matt Stafford notes that Craggy Range uses nine Pinot Noir clones and that "the redder ones" tend to go into the regular Te Muna Road bottling; this wine includes some clone 667, which typically communicates a black fruit character.). Delivers good texture and mid-palate stuffing, with an attractive savory quality supported by dark fruit intensity. Nicely smooth Pinot with supple tannins. Both this wine and the Te Muna Road bottling are on the soft side despite minor acidification." - Stephen Tanzer (May 2016)
