Notes from the Winemaker:
It promotes ultimate expression in Syrah. It is where the genetic diversity of Syrah triggers another dimension in soil expression, and where whole clusters make perfect sense. Cote Rotie is a particle accelerator. 2017 is the latest in an incredible series of excellent vintages since the average 2014. In fact, 2015, 2016 and 2017 have all promoted good ripening, the prerequisite for producing a top wine. Remember the previous series - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, only interrupted by 2014. Since temperatures have risen slightly, Cote Rotie has become the land of milk and honey. Smoked ham, violet, graphite, cold ash, liquorice. Bottled without filtration.

Aged for twelve months: 40% in new casks & 60% in casks used for one wine

Ratings & Reviews

93-95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2017 Cote Rotie shows a more floral character yet still has plenty of power, weight, and richness. Black fruits, spiced meats, olive, and gamey notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, ethereal 2017 that's already hard to resist. It's a beautiful wine in the making and bodes well for the vintage." (9/26/2018)

93-94 Points - Vinous Media:
"Deep, bright-rimmed magenta. Expressive dark berry, cherry, olive, peony and smoky bacon aromas are sharpened by cracked pepper and smoky mineral flourishes. Juicy blackberry, cassis, cherry preserve and floral pastille flavors show very real energy and becomes sweeter with air. Rich, but energetic in style, showing solid finishing thrust and building tannins that add shape and youthful grip." - Josh Raynolds (Jul 2019)

92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

"Notes of smoked meat and cold fireplace mark the nose of Saint Cosme's 2017 Cote Rotie. It's medium to full-bodied, with a plush, seductive mouthfeel, supple tannins and a long finish. It should be a beauty." - Joe Czerwinski (28th Dec 2018)
