About this Winery:
The Cortonesi winery is a family-owned winery, owned by the family of the same name, native of Montalcino. The strong attachment to the territory has always been an essential part of the work of the winery, based not only on the respect of the surrounding environment but also on the will of improving in terms of technical and cultural evolution and not only overcoming the ideas from the past. Today Tommaso, Marco and Giulio continue the winemaking activity in the name of the family tradition, because everything comes from the family and from the strong link of the Cortonesi family with Montalcino.

Tasting Notes:
A core of cherry and strawberry highlights this rich and intense red, with accents of flowers and spice flavors. Fully balanced, long and ready to drink immediately upon release (but it can also be enjoyed through 2028). It remains vibrant and focused with a lingering finish

Food Pairing:
This wine pairs well with full-flavored and roasted red meats, game and pork.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Fruit from the youngest vines (planted in 2011) at the La Mannella site make this unique wine. Not many producers are in a position to make a single-vineyard Rosso, but we are slowly seeing more of them come to market. The Cortonesi 2018 Rosso di Montalcino La Mannella is redolent of red berry fruit, almond and plum. The wine does offer a rather prominent sense of structure, and this is one of the characteristics of the La Mannella site. Some 15,000 bottles were made, and this wine hit the market in November 2019." - Monica Larner (1/31/2020)

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Aromas of ripe wild berry, purple flower, leather and baking spice shape the inviting nose. It's bigger and more concentrated than what you would normally expect for a Rosso di Montalcino. It's smooth and juicy, with black cherry, plum and cocoa flavors. Taut, fine-grained tannins give it velvety support. Enjoy through 2023." - Kerin O'Keefe (7/1/2020)

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"Good full red. Very clean and precise aromas and flavors of ripe red fruit and herbs, complicated by flinty nuances. Closes long and zesty. Offers lovely acid-fruit presence and an easy to like, early appeal." - Ian D'Agata (4/20/2020)

Wine Spectator:
"Here's a generous, well-balanced red, rich and laced with cherry and plum flavors. The structure is well-integrated, and the finish lingers with fruit, earth and wild herb notes. Drink now. 1,250 cases made, 175 cases imported." - BS (10/15/2020)
