About the winery:

Rhone's Jean-Luc Colombo, whom Josh Raynolds of Vinous Media has called "the poster child" of the modern Rhone, is a native of Marseilles, and first developed a strong admiration for the wines of the Rhône Valley in the late 1970s as a pharmacy student. It was not long before Colombo began purchasing and cultivating his own vineyards - first in Cornas then throughout the Rhône Valley and Languedoc, leading to the establishment in 1994 of Vins Jean-Luc Colombo. The wines of Vins Jean-Luc Colombo are all sourced from Colombo's own vineyards and from carefully selected domains under his direct consultation; there are now over two dozen.

In 2010, Laure Colombo, Anne and Jean-Luc's daughter, joined the family business, working alongside her parents. She is now the head winemaker and already making a name for herself as one of the Rhône's rising stars.

About the Wine:

Traditional “saignée” method is used. Harvested with minimal intervention, no destemming and immediate fermentation at a very cool temperature of 61° F for 10 days. No malolactic fermentation to keep freshness & acidity. Refined in stainless steel tanks for 5 months at low temperatures. Minimal fining and tangential filtration.

Alcohol: 13%

Grape Varieties: 40% Syrah, 40% Cinsault, 20% Grenache

Tasting Notes

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"Brilliant orange-pink. Ripe red berries, orange pith and pungent flowers on the deeply perfumed nose. Juicy raspberry, tangerine, peach and lavender flavors are sharpened and given a spicy edge by a hint of white pepper. Shows very good energy and solid thrust on a very long, supple finish that echoes the red fruit and floral qualities." - Josh Raynolds (Jun 2018)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"A blend of 40% Cinsault, 40% Syrah and 20% Grenache, the 2017 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rose La Dame de Rouet is a pale flamingo rosé that features bubble gum-like confected aromas but also hints of cantaloupe and peach. It's light to medium-bodied, with a silky texture and lingering finish." - Joe Czerwinski (Jun 2018)
