About this Wine:

Cobos Malbec represents "true north" for Viña Cobos; it is the founding inspiration for the Argentinean portfolio. It is produced only in exceptional vintages from the oldest vines (60 to 80 years) in the Marchiori Vineyard. It exhibits levels of concentration and power rarely achieved in Argentina – or in other top winegrowing regions of the world – for that matter.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"Full ruby-red color. Musky aromas of dark cherry, currant, menthol, rose petal and violet are complicated by strong soil tones. Voluptuous, deep and sweet but with terrific energy and verve to the seamless flavors of black raspberry, brown spices and chocolate. Wonderfully seamless, long wine with noble, slowly building tannins. As sexy as this beauty is today, I'd give it four years in the cellar to burn off some of its baby fat."

100 Points - James Suckling (2011 vitnage):
"The nose is phenomenal in this wine. It makes my head spin with so much beautiful perfumes of violets, lavender, sandalwood, mineral, dried fruits, figs. Full body, with phenomenal depth of fruit that gives layers of structure and richness. I am amazed. This is a wine to try in 2020 but so impressive now. This is the Harlan of Argentina but from malbec instead of cabernet sauvignon. 500 cases made. This is a good as it gets for malbec." - James Suckling (June 11, 2014)

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2011 vintage):
"This inky red is slow to open, with fine tannins wrapping around a plush core of blueberry paste, linzer torte and cassis fruit. Needs time in the cellar, but the dark, graphite-laced finish shows potential. Best from 2016 through 2022. 140 cases imported." –NW (11/30/2013)
