History:

Village Appellation of the Côte de Beaune (dept. of Saône-et-Loire). The Maranges appellation includes 6 Premiers Crus « climats » (named plots). Maranges was granted its own communal AOC in 1988 covering the three villages of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges.

Antonin Rodet is the exclusive winegrower and distributor of the Château de Mercey estate. The castel was built in the 16th Century at the Southern limits of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard estate extends over 41 hectares principally surrounding the Château.

Antonin Rodet runs 4 hectares of the 28 hectares that compose the Premier Cru parcel "Les Clos Roussots".
Terrior:
Though the hill-slopes are differently oriented to those of the Côte de Beaune, their nature and origins are geologically the same, making up a varied patchwork of hills and valleys. The vineyards mostly have a south/south-westerly exposure and lie at altitudes of 240-400 metres. Cheilly, in the valley of the Cozanne, has rather light pebbly soils. Sampigny and Dezize share the climats (named plots) which lie to the south of Santenay on brown limestone soils and limey marls.
Tasting Note:

Colour: Deep red

Bouquet: Game and leather complexe aromas, blended with notes of wild berries and undergrowth.

Palate:  A rich and well-balanced wine in the mouth, with a certain vivacity and pleasant wooded aromas.
