Notes from the Winemaker:
Medium-dark to dark ruby-purple. Lifted aromas of black olive, smoked game, and spice. Smells quite savory and delicious. Medium-full bodied on the palate, notes of spice and earth weave in and out of the black and blue fruit flavors. Tannins are quite fine at this early stage but with the high percentage of whole cluster and Mourvedre, this wine is definitely built for aging. Enjoy from 2024 to 2034, perhaps even beyond. Ratings & Reviews

94+ Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Coming from a single vineyard in the cooler Bennett Valley (although the site is so unique they don't label this wine as from Bennett Valley), the 2017 The Integral checks in as 62% Syrah and 38% Mourvedre that had the Syrah mostly destemmed and the Mourvedre fermented with 100% whole clusters. Deep purple-hued with notes of smoke blue fruits, bloody minerality, charcoal, and graphite, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated, backward, and structured. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and it's going to keep for over a decade." - Jeb Dunnuck (6/14/2019)

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:

"A light-footed bruiser, opening with boldly expressive blackberry jam aromas before revealing a structured core wrapped in compelling currant, licorice and smoky beef flavors. Syrah and Mourvedre . Best from 2021 through 2028. 422 cases made." - TF (Issue Feb 29, 2020)

90-93 Points - Vinous:
"The 2017 The Integral, Carlisle's Syrah/Mourvedre  blend is absolutely gorgeous. A wine of real character and personality, the 2017 has so much to offer. Black cherry, chocolate and savory herbs are just some of the many aromas and flavors that emerge. Rich, beautifully textured and hugely appealing, the 2017 is flat-out delicious." Antonio Galloni - (May 2019)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

"The 2017 The Integral is made of 62% Syrah and 38% Mourvedre . Picked just a couple days before the fires, the Mourvedre  was fermented with whole clusters in tank with the destemmed Syrah layered over the top. Deep ruby-purple, it has aromatics of lilac, olive, black pepper and smoked meats with blackcurrant, blue fruit preserves, iron, beef drippings and chocolate. Full-bodied and bold, it's savory, with very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a touch of warmth. 422 cases produced." - Erin Brooks (19th Dec 2019)
