About the Winery:
Founded in 1893, the Cantina Terlano winery is now one of the leading wine growers’ cooperatives in South Tyrol, with a current membership of 143 growers working a total area of 190 hectares. That is the equivalent of some 1.5 million bottles of wine a year. We and our members have long had a strong focus on quality. That has attracted praise and recognition on the Italian and international wine markets, and in spite of its relatively small size, Cantina Terlano is now well established in the world of wine.

Tasting Notes:
In the glass, an intensive straw yellow with a delicate green shimmer.  The nose shows ripe fruit aromas of apricot, mandarin and passion fruit mingle with elements of elderberry, gooseberry and mint. The fruitiness continues on the palate in combination with a fine acidity. The wine scores with a good structure and a minerally but at the same time aromatic finish.

Food Pairing:
An interesting combination in spring with boiled white asparagus in Bolzano sauce as well as with steamed green asparagus; also with tuna carpaccio, smoked salmon and raw langoustines; and a typical South Tyrolean choice with nettle dumplings, as well as poached trout with vegetables or young goat’s cheese.

Ratings & Reviews:

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (for 2021):
Always a great buy, the Cantina Terlano 2021 Alto Adige Terlano Sauvignon Winkl is fragrant and floral with punchy aromas that pop from the glass. You definitely know that you are in front of a Sauvignon Blanc, but unlike some of the New Wold expressions that focus on green notes of kiwi and tomato leaf, this wine has a very crystalline or white personality with limestone, lychee and crisp pear. If you love this grape, you get your money's worth here. The wine is made mostly in stainless steel, with a tiny 20% that goes into barrel for eight months. Best after 2022.

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A mouthwatering white, with vivacious acidity buoying flavors of pineapple, pink grapefruit granita and hints of fresh tarragon, fleur de sel and almond blossoms. Well-knit and stylish, with the flavor range persisting on the long finish. Drink now through 2028."

92 Points - James Suckling (for 2021):
A very classic Alto Adige sauvignon blanc with tons of yellow-grapefruit aroma, but also many herbal and sweet vegetal (think green bean, asparagus, etc.) notes. Juicy and vibrant, but also well-structured, this has impressive depth at the bright finish. Drink or hold.
