Notes from the Winemaker (2011 vintage):
At first glance, the wine is a dark, deep, brilliant crimson colour. The dense nose offers pure, intense dark berry and undergrowth aromas. On the palate, the mellow, well-integrated wood adds an unrivalled silkiness. The well-balanced tannin structure, the precision and just the right balance of fruit give this wine its full personality. Its delicate, subtle scents lead you to a delightfully long, fresh finish. The silkiness of the wine dominates throughout the tasting. A jewel of a wine.

Ratings & Reviews

(91-94) Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Tasted out of barrel, the 2012 Cuvee Sixtine Chateauneuf du Pape (same blend and elevage as the 2011) shows the purity and freshness of the vintage. Offering up plenty of blackberry, licorice, toast and roasted meat like qualities, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a dense, concentrated feel and ripe tannin. Perfectly balanced, it should benefit from short-term cellaring and have 12-15 years of total longevity. Drink 2016-2024." -Jeb Dunnuck (Oct 2013)

90-92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright purple. Fresh black and blue fruits on the perfumed nose and in the mouth. Fleshy and smooth in texture, displaying good spicy lift and finishing punch. Quite accessible already, with plenty of upfront fruit and good depth." -Josh Raynolds (Jan/Feb 14)

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2011 vintage):
"Driven by a bright, juicy core of raspberry and blackberry coulis notes, this features accents of licorice snap and roasted apple wood. Good briary grip lines the finish, with a lingering sappy feel. Drink now through 2026. 3,500 cases made." -JM (Oct 31, 2013)
