About the Winery:
Lamborn Family Vineyards is located at 2,200 feet above sea level, high atop Howell Mountain, Napa Valley. Howell Mountain's volcanic soil, combined with its distinct mezzo climate, provides our small 8 acre vineyard with ideal growing conditions. This environment produces Howell Mountain Zinfandels and Cabernet Sauvignons of the highest quality and intensity, with all winemaking by Heidi Barrett of Screaming Eagle fame. The grapes which eventually become Lamborn wines are exclusively from our estate vineyard. We take that formula one step further by farming the vineyard ourselves. Our annual farming decisions are based on quality and nothing else.

The Winemaker:
Heidi Barrett is truly a well-recognized and highly respected master of her art. She joined the Lamborn Family Wine Company team in 1996, bringing her individualized expertise to the family's 4 acre Zinfandel and 4 acre Cabernet vineyards while adding a varietal dimension to her wine repertoire.

In addition to Lamborn Family and her own projects, La Sirena and Amuse Bouche, Heidi is also currently making wine for such wineries as Paradigm, Au Sommet, Fantesca, and Kenzo Estate. Past clients include Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Grace Family, Vineyard 29, Hartwell, Oakford Vineyards, and Barbour.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points & "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged in French oak. It’s full bodied, with blackberry jam, black currant, dark chocolate and toasty oak flavors. The tannin-acid balance is as fine as Napa gets. Delicious now, but give it at least six years to achieve even more complexity." — S.H. (12/31/2013)

94 Points & "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2008 vintage):
"Tannic and closed now, this wine has a tough-as-nails astringency that brings to mind an older style of Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, one that required many years of aging. However, this wine is considerably riper and fruitier than anything the mountain used to yield, testimony to modern growing and extractive measures. It is, in a word, delicious, with deep, long blackberry, black currant, crème de cassis and smoke flavors. But, like the 2007, it needs serious time in the cellar. Try after 2018." — S.H. 94 Points & "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2007 vintage):
"So dramatically deep in flavor, it immediately impresses for the depth of blackberries, cassis and minerals, enriched with sweet, smoky oak. The tannins are fierce now, and the wine shows a precocious immaturity that makes it somewhat coarse. But it clearly has the structure to age well. Should glide through the next dozen years with ease. Production was 875 cases." — S.H. (4/1/2011)
