About the Wine:
Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er cru lies in the "Zone Vosnoise" or northern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges just below Les Damodes. It borders Vosne-Romanece Aux Malconsorts 1er just to its north. Its position slightly lower on the slope with deep soil full of pebbles results in a richer and fuller wine.

Tasting Notes:
The wine shows aromas and flavors of red berries, herbs, and purple flowers. The palate is rich with ripe fruit and medium weight with bright acidity and fine tannins. Aging in 30-60% new Burgundian piece brings notes of vanilla, toast, and baking spices.

Food Pairing:
Red Burgundy might be the world's most flexible food wine. The wine's high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:

"A fragrant mix of sandalwood, vanilla, toast and sweet cherry aromas and flavors. Firms up as the plump tannins take over, yet lingers with plenty of spice notes on the finish. Best from 2022 through 2037. 97 cases imported." BS (May 31, 2018)

92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots has an opulent, effervescent bouquet with copious red cherries, wild strawberry, marmalade and hints of allspice that all make for a very complex and quite riveting experience. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet candied entry, like the aromatics, forward and opulent in style with a rich, dense, spicy finish that feels as much Vosne-Romanée as Nuits Saint-Georges. It will need several years in bottle, but it should be a hell of a lot of fun once ready." - Neal Martin (30th Dec 2016)

93+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Full, bright red. Aromas of dark cherry, licorice and leather are lifted by a floral note. Compellingly silky, supple and rich, but with its captivating sweetness nicely leavened by slightly medicinal menthol and mineral notes. The whiplash of a finish features seamless, noble tannins and outstanding breadth, the flavors building slowly and inexorably. An essence of Nuits-Saint-George with Vosne-side perfume." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan 2018)

91-94 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Here the wood treatment isn't subtle though neither is it sufficient to overshadow the wonderfully fresh and layered nose of blue pinot fruit, cassis, earth and broad range of spice elements. The mouthfeel of the broad-shouldered flavors is equally seductive and even sleeker but despite the generous mid-palate there is solid muscle and a firm core of tannins supporting the powerful and driving finish. As big as this is, it still manages to remain refined and well-balanced. Lovely stuff but once again, extended patience will be required if you wish to experience this at its peak." - (Jan 15, 2018)
