About the Winery:
Beckmen Vineyards is one of North America’s premier producers of Rhône varietal wines since their establishment in 1994. A family owned and operated vineyard and winery, they craft premier wines with a focus on Rhone varieties, sourcing fruit from the Beckmen Estate Vineyard, located in the Los Olivos District AVA, and their certified Biodynamic Purisima Mountain Vineyard, located in the limestone laden hills of the Ballard Canyon AVA. Theirs is the first biodynamically farmed vineyard in Santa Barbara County.

The Thomas and Judith Beckmen Estate Vineyard is 40 acres (25 planted) of rolling hills situated on the western border of the Los Olivos District. This top-tier single vineyard has a slightly warmer climate and a gravely, well-drained soil, which allows them to focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as small amounts of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah.

Notes from the Winemaker:
2020 is a dramatically different Cabernet vintage than we have experienced in several years, and the Estate Cabernet is already plush and inviting, with sturdy tannins acting as a reminder of its youth. Welcoming aromas of cedar, leather, dried herbs, and raspberry jam flow into flavors of dark fruits, pomegranate, and pie cherry. The lively tannins are well-integrated and leave traces of cocoa powder and toasted sage on the palate. Drink from 2023-2045.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This bottling manages to pack in a riper side of Cab than is usually seen in Santa Barbara County, where an herbaceous quality tends to appear. This bottling starts with creamy aromas of purple fruit before landing on a palate full of cassis and violet. Black pepper and polished tannins complete the package." - Matt Kettman (Apr 2023)

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is also terrific, with a slightly more straightforward style in its ripe black fruit, leafy herbs, bay leaf, and cedar pencil aromas and flavors. Beautifully textured, medium-bodied, and nicely concentrated, with ripe tannins, it too will evolve for upwards of two decades." (Aug 2023)
