About the Winery:
Banshee Wines was born in 2009 at a bar in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. With money borrowed from friends and family, the original founders launched Banshee Wines with eight barrels of coveted Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. The initial intent was to make wines that tasted like the best California had to offer, but were priced so that everyone could enjoy them. This band of wine industry insiders is dedicated to producing benchmark wines without the cult wine prices. They specialize in finding hidden gems in other wineries' cellars and then blending those barrels to create killer wines. For every barrel Banshee takes, they pass on 15 more that don't make the cut.
An exciting, yet friendly wine, bursting at the seams with aromas of dried cherry, earthy peat moss and Redwood forest with notes of hyacinth, sandalwood and confectioners sugar. The flavors combine to create a fruit- driven front palate and very subtle oak influence. The finish is bright, with a nice pop of acidity and flavors of tart raspberry and bramble to create great weight for an excellent food wine, as well as a charming drinking experience by itself.
Ratings & Reviews93 Points & Editor's Choice - Wine Enthusiast:
"This elegant, energized wine combines bright raspberry and red-cherry aromas with flinty, mineral accents and lip-smacking red and black cherry flavors. It shows great balance and will be fun to watch as it matures further. Best through 2030." - JG (12/31/2022)
"The 2021 Pinot Noir (Sonoma County) is bright and nicely focused, with lovely red berry, spice and floral character. This mid-weight, fruity Pinot is a charmer. Finding value in Pinot Noir is very hard. Banshee's 2021 fits the bill." - Antonio Galloni (Jan 2023)
