A wine for meditative contemplation, Poggio Alle Mura is a superb example of the best synthesis of terroir, selection and technological innovation. Estate-bottled from the splendid sun-drenched vineyard adjacent to the Castello, this Brunello oencompasses a full body and complexity unique to the genre.
Tasting Notes:
In the glass a mauve red, intense and very deep. The nose is complex, but immediately captivating, fresh and sweet, with essences of plum, cherry, blackberry and raspberry jam combined with hints of chocolate, cigar box, vanilla and licorice. It's muscular and toned, a surprising combination of power and softness, with sweet and gentle tannins.
Food Pairing:
This wine is particularly suited to accompany red meat, savory game and aged cheeses. Long aging potential.

94 Points - James Suckling:
"Lovely wine for the vintage that is polished and tailored. Full body, with super integrated tannins and gorgeous berry, chocolate and cream character on the palate and finish. Very fine indeed. Drink now or hold." (Feb 11, 2013)
92 Points -Wine Enthusiast:
"Poggio alle Mura is a cru expression of Brunello from a flagship estate in Montalcino. The wine offers bright berry aromas and crisp acidity, but it also shows carefully measured accents of spice and tobacco that give it heft and importance on the palate. Hold this wine a few more years before opening." — ML (5/1/2013)
91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A rich cherry flavor is accented by flint, iron and earth notes complemented by a hint of spice. Fresh and elegant, ending with dense tannins and a long, spicy finish. Best from 2016 through 2032. 4,500 cases made." – BS (May 31, 2013)
