Notes from the Winemaker:

The Marchese Antinori Riserva is produced exclusively in better vintages and solely from the finest grapes of the family's Tignanello vineyards.

Vinification:

Upon arrival in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed; the must was transferred into stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation occurred in about one week’s time. Very gentle pump overs and délestage techniques were performed during maceration on the skins for an intense extraction while preserving elegant and supple tannins. Malolactic fermentation, which took place spontaneously, was completed by the end of the year. The wine was then blended and went into French and Hungarian oak barriques for approximately one year. Marchese Antinori Riserva was then bottled and given a further twelve-month period of bottle aging before being released.

A harmonious red, offering an expression of cherry, blackberry and floral aromas and flavors offset by a vibrant, well-integrated structure. Shows iron, tobacco, smoke and a hint of wild herbs, which weigh in as this evolves on the palate toward a lingering aftertaste. Delivers finesse and energy. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2024 through 2038. 5,000 cases imported.

This is very refined, with lots of sangiovese character, showing sour cherries, peaches, and bark, as well as pine needles. Medium-bodied and deliciously attractive. Fine tannins at the end. Drink now.

This has enticing aromas recalling ripe plum, fragrant blue flower and oak-driven spice. On the smooth, savory palate, supple, fine-grained tannins accompany juicy Marasca cherry, cassis, vanilla and star anise. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2024–2031.
