Winemaker Notes:
In 2009, we had a very consistent season with stable temperatures which gave us grapes with higher acidity due to the temperate season. Although, in October Napa Valley had a major tropical storm which was followed by a less intrusive rain two weeks later. This forced most winemakers to pick prior to the rain. At Alpha Omega we decided to let the fruit hang through the rain to obtain better tannic ripeness. Because we have a quadruple sorting system we had the ability to sort out grapes that were not up to standards. Therefore, we had fewer grapes but perfect ripeness. Overall, the vintage is a bit more Bordeaux-like with wines with a lower alcohol content and a little bit higher acidity.

37% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 13% Petit Verdot

Tasting Notes:
Color: deep, shiny red with black cherry and strawberries on the rim

On the nose: explosion of cedar with spices like tobacco, cumin and white pepper balanced with touches of violet, clay, blueberry and cherry with dark chocolate

On the palate: entrance of raspberry, evolving on dense, soft tannins with touches of cassis, blueberry, prune and cherry, lingering on gooseberry, rose petals and lavender with a hint of saltiness.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"A blend of mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller amounts of other traditional Bordeaux varieties, this treads perilously close to being too ripe. It shows a hint of raisin, but not enough to interfere with the beauty of the blackberry jam and sweet oak flavors. The tannins are exquisite, in the way of a top Napa Cab. Doesn’t seem to be a longterm ager, so drink now–2015." -SH (11/12)
