Notes from the Winemaker:
The diversity of clones and our cool climate vineyards make our Chardonnay unique. The natural high acidity allows us to ferment 100% in barrels, and go through 100% Malolactic Fermentation. We strive to accomplish the best of both worlds - high acidity and minerality like a traditional Burgundy yet with roundness on the palate as a traditional California Chardonnay.

"Swiss-born Jean Hoefliger had plenty of experience in Bordeaux and working with Michel Rolland at Newton Vineyards before taking over the reins at Alpha Omega. He has hit pay-dirt with the 2012s, the finest vintage I have tasted from this ambitious winery located on Route 29, south of St. Helena. They have some great vineyard sources for their Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly the range of Beckstoffer-owned, first-growth quality sites spread throughout Napa." - Robert M. Parker Jr. (Oct 2014)

Tasting Notes

Color: bright, pale gold with hints of white gold and citrine
Nose: intense notes of apricot, cedar, Meyer lemon, toasted bread and granite with hints of banana, white chocolate, pineapple and cloves
Palate: bright entrance evolving on fresh citrus with touches of herbs, minerality and white flowers, lingering on fresh vanilla

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A rich, expansive style that shows creamy, toasty oak and a core of fig, melon, citrus and peach, with the flavors elegantly woven together. Ends with a citrus peel pithiness.  1,500 cases made." - JL (July 31, 2015)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2012 Chardonnay exhibits scents of orange rind and citrus intermixed with subtle background oak. Medium to full-bodied with fresh fruit and excellent to outstanding concentration ..." (Oct 2014)
