About the Winery:

The Alois Lageder winery was established in 1823 and today it is managed by the family’s fifth and sixth generation. The winery is located in Magrè, in the southern part of the Alto Adige region. The Alois Lageder winery in Alto Adige comprises fifty five hectares of vineyards, which are managed on the basis of biodynamic principles.

About the Wine:
The fruit in this bottling of 100% Pinot Grigio is from a selected vineyard in Magrè, Salorno and the northern part of Trentino, situated at an altitude of 220 - 350 meters. The region has a warm mesoclimate with big variations between day and night temperatures and soils made up of gravel/sand with limestone content. Small amount of fruit is whole cluster fermented. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation on the fine lees for four months.

The Terra Alpina wines are characterized by a unique interplay of harsh Alpine and sunny Mediterranean influences.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant straw yellow with a green shimmer. Quite pronounced and expressive aroma with flowery and somewhat spicy notes. Rich flavored in the mouth, with a slight smokiness at the back and a good, fresh finish. When properly cellared, this will drink well for 2 to 4 years.

PRODUCER - Alois Lageder
REGION - Trentino-Alto Adige
APPELLATION - Vigneti delle Dolomiti

Ratings & Reviews

89 Points - James Suckling:
"An interesting, smoky character and elegant, rather mineral acidity give this light-bodied pinot grigio distinctive character. Slightly edgy finish. Drink now. Screw cap." (Apr 2021)

Wine Spectator:
"A light-bodied white, with a zesty edge of kumquat acidity and a spicy mineral underpinning, this is lightly creamy on the palate and shows flavors of baked pear and apricot, light herbs and anise. Subtle finish." (jul 2022)
