Pascal and Ambroise farm 10 hectares from some 60 different vineyard plots in the Côte de Blancs, including Oger, Cramant, Oiry and Avize. They prefer not to label their viticultural methods; they farm using only homeopathic vine treatments, composts, manures, and regular plowing. The Agraparts were one of the first families to bring the draft horse back to the vineyards, and named a cuvee in honor of their first four-hooved friend, Vénus. In plowing the old-school way, they expose the clay and limestone soils to immune-boosting properties of the wind and sun. While they once were the object of ridicule, they now lead a return to authentic, ancestral practices. Their quality control extends to manual harvests, a selective triage of the grapes, and the use of native yeasts during fermentation. Malolactic fermentations are employed to round out the intensity of these mineral-driven Champagnes. The wines age on their lees for an extended period of time, and then are racked to both stainless steel and neutral oak barrels—the latter being a rarity in Champagne before Pascal started using them. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Up until the time when he passed away in 1996 at the age of 96, Pascal’s grandfather, Auguste Agrapart, took great pride in hand-riddling each bottle of Agrapart Champagne. When asked for the secret to his long life was, his reply was “one bottle of Champagne a day.”

About this Wine:
This bottling no longer bears the Grand Cru designation. We experience a return to drought conditions with only a quarter of the normal winter season rain. The cool spring pushed budbreak into the middle of April. Warm sunny weather finally arrived at the end of April and continued into May allowing the vine growth to steadily progress. The dry conditions gave us balanced vines by limiting shoot growth and setting a small crop. The rest of the growing season gave us perfect weather with only a few days over 100 degrees F. Ripening progressed steadily and uniformly. The small crop, dry weather, and abundant sunny days set things up for an early start to harvest. The dry, low yielding vintage produced wines with great intensity of flavor, energy, and balanced tannins. The cooler than average nights kept acidity high. Moderate sunny days, and a small crop, allowed ripening to progress at a steady pace. Our first pick was at our warmest vineyard site on September 7th. About a week later we harvested the Merlot and Malbec from our Howell Mountain vineyard. The rest of the Cabernet Sauvignon was picked in an orderly but un-hurried fashion through the end of the first week in October. The different lots were separated according to their individual characteristics and then transferred into barriques where malolactic fermentation was completed by the end of the year. Best from 2026 through 2035." - Bruce Sanderson (Oct 2025)

92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Made with 100% Merlot, the Marchesi Antinori 2023 Bolgheri Guado al Tasso Cont'Ugo reveals a soft, fleshy texture that coats the palate, carrying flavors of black cherry and blackberry with ease. The quality of the fruit is pristine and clean, sustaining the wine seamlessly from entry through the finish, though the mid-palate briefly slows under the weight of hot-vintage richness. Balance quickly returns, and the wine finishes smoothly." - Monica Larner (Feb 2026)

Winemaker Notes:

Latour à Pomerol, which draws its name from the tower that adorns this charming château, was acquired by Mme Loubat, who also owned Château Petrus, in 1917. The vineyard receives the same care applied to all the J.P. Moueix properties: leaf-thinning and green-harvesting to allow for optimal grape maturity followed by a manual harvest. Sweet tobacco, dried herbs, mint, pepper and spice give the 2017 striking aromatic presence to play off a core of ripe red cherry fruit. Medium in body yet wonderfully deep and fleshy, the 2017 has so much to offer. I like it as much from bottle as I did from barrel.
